    I guess you have to put some sode in your blog templates. Otherwise this plugin is useless.

  • 3 Rajender Singh // Sep 24, 2007 at 2:39 pm

    No Need!

    It automatically binds to the post!

  • 4 Rajender Singh // Sep 24, 2007 at 11:54 pm

    While Developing my next version, I am facing some problem in “add_option” function. It is not adding the row in options table in database!

    Lets see, still working on it.

    May be soon will crack this!

    Busy with my work too, so new release may take time!

    Hi. I just updated to 2.3 and used your plugin. It works in Firefox but not in IE7. Your site also looks a little peculiar in IE7, but ok in Firefox…just thought I’d let you know…

    Cheers,
    vive

    Great plugin! Is there a way to get it to display a text link instead of an image link?

    Thanks Jeff!

  • 12 Anna // Sep 29, 2007 at 7:30 pm

    Would there be a way to call this function manually, to be able to put it somewhere else than at the end of the post?

    I have a box with post meta at the side and would really like to have the bookmark icons placed there…

    Regards, Anna

  • 13 ant // Oct 1, 2007 at 10:15 am

    can a new service be added easily?

  • 14 Rajender Singh // Oct 1, 2007 at 10:24 am

    Dear Anna,

    You need to tweak coding for it!

    Check out last line in plugin file!

    add_action(‘the_content’, ‘obsocialbookmarker’);

    Here you need to change the value of first paramter (“the_content”) to someother location.

    Please have a look at add_action function (wordpress) for different location that you can give.

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Plugin_API

    I hope this will help you!

    Regards,

    Raj

  • 15 Rajender Singh // Oct 1, 2007 at 10:30 am

    Dear Ant,

    Yes it can be addeded!

    But you need to touch coding for this!

    Let me know if you need my help!

    Is there a reason why all the icons are displayed vertically instead of horizontally because its taking up extra space under the posts

    Hi Raj
    I’d like to know how to:

    - Show plugin only when seeing full post
    - Disable plugin in feeds, I see the plugin showing in the feeds. This looks good, but 99% don’t like to see the icons in the feeds

    PS: try putting something so I can subscribe to these comments, they’d be very useful

    Raj,
    We manage many blogs and the ones with the Bosco 2.0 + Widgets and Torn 2.0 + Widgets themes show the bookmarks vertically. All others are fine. Here are 2 examples:

    http://www.articlemarketingautopilot.com
    http://www.knowledgechoice.com

    I don’t see HTML BR TAG associated with these images either.

    Also, like Henry, it would be great if these only appeared on the full post.

    If you could email me your response that would also be greatly appreciated. :)

    Thanks,
    Arnie

  • 28 Mark Hollander // Oct 18, 2007 at 12:23 am

    Hi Raj,

    Thanks for the great plugin. I am trying to tweak the code to call all favicon.ico from the local drive rather than remote sites. Our monitoring service WebsitePulse.com reports that the current calls to digg, etc are adding a full 3 seconds to the full page load time.

    I see no way to edit the array code to do this. I tried
    ‘img’ => ‘”http://group8020.com/uploads/delicious/delicious.gif” width=”16″ height=”16″ alt=”del.icio.us”

    but that didn’t work. And I know of no way to call a favicon.ico from anything but the root directory. Do you have any suggestions? Love the plugin, it’s the 3 seconds that’s killing us.

    Best wishes,

    MH

  • 30 rajs // Oct 20, 2007 at 11:42 am

    Hi Arnie,

    First thanks for using the plugin!

    I checked your sites and came to know that its happening because of following highlighted entry in your style sheet.

    .entry img {
    float: right;
    clear: right;
    margin: 0 0 5px 10px;
    background: #fff;
    padding: 2px;
    border: 1px solid #ccc;
    }

    Please replace the plugin with new version 3.3.

    It will take care of it.

    Just for sharing what I did, I have explicitly set the img tag property in plugin to “float:none”

    Regards,

    Raj

    Hi Henry,

    Thanks for the good advice of putting subscription for comments.

    I have done it, but haven’t tested it fully yet!

    - Show plugin only when seeing full post

    Let me work on above suggestions!

    Love the plugin, but have to deactivate it for the time being. With the links showing in feeds, it is causing issues with the feed being syndicated to livejournal. Get this lovely messege after the first couple icons:
    [Error: Irreparable invalid markup ('') in entry. Owner must fix manually. Raw contents below.]

  • 36 mike // Oct 30, 2007 at 1:58 pm

    after installing this plugin i get this showing up at the top of every post

    Warning: implode() [function.implode]: Bad arguments. in xxxxxxxxxxx/wp-content/plugins/obsocialbookmarker.php on line 406

    Hi there

    This is the best social bookmarking plug in I’ve found. Thanks a lot.

    I’m trying to tweak it to only show on the pages belonging to one category, but I’m getting nowhere. Is there an if clause I can add in to the code to check the category before applying the bookmarks?

    Thanks again for writing the plugin :)

  • 69 Kirk M // Dec 27, 2007 at 11:31 am

    Hi Raj,

    First of thanks for the easiest social bookmarking around.

    Thought you might want to know that the “Bloglines” icon’s hyperlink is messed up and clicking on the icon leads to a 404 page. A customer of mine that I recently updated brought it to my attention and I checked it on my site as well as yours and it’s the same problem.

    I haven’t had time to run down the problem but it looks like the hyperlink, once it’s put into the address bar, is garbled up a bit. Would you take a look at this please?

    Many thanks!

  • 70 rajs // Dec 27, 2007 at 12:34 pm

    Thanks Kirk!

    Actually the problem was that bloglines is not accepting the url in encoded form.

    Before passing the url, I am encoding the url with urlencode function of php.

    Example as follows:
    http://www.bloglines.com/sub/http%3A%2F%2Fwww.oraclebrains.com%2F%3Fp%3D154

    So I for bloglines, I reverse this and passed the url as urldecode($link).

    Which will go as http://www.bloglines.com/sub/https://oraclebrains.com/?p=154

    This Change I have put as a minor release and soon will be available as 4.3.0 at wordpress.

    Regards,

    Raj

  • 71 MiKe KeY // Dec 30, 2007 at 9:45 am

    I like your plugin, but your code could use some clean up. You’re use of the style tag and the filter property is incorrect and unsupported CSS. This could be a problem for people trying to produce truely CSS valid and XHTML valid pages.

    style=”float:none IS NOT VALID, you don’t even need it.

  • 72 MiKe KeY // Dec 30, 2007 at 9:59 am

    $bookmarker[$key] = ‘ ’;

    That will make it valid.

  • 79 .45 // Jan 5, 2008 at 6:12 pm

    All good, Raj. Thanks! Easier to debug my own markup now.

    This is the cleanest implementation I’ve seen that both looks good and works well without relying on js. I also like that it doesn’t submit usage stats to a third party, which bring me to the only “wish list” idea I would have, which would be a way to record clicks per bookmark so you can monitor them on the options page and determine which buttons are worth keeping or not. Second to this would be a way of then reordering the buttons to make the most popular appear first.

    Again though, this would just be gravy. As is, a very useful plugin.

    Thanks!

    Rad. I had one more thought while playing with breaking up posts to give more juice to individual pages. Would it be difficult to add an option to hide the display when the feature is used? This makes good usability sense to me, to only suggest bookmarking from full posts.

    Sorry, I was a software project manager in another life.

    Went all the way for strict xhtml because I’m OCD and there was one attribute that was failing validation in the php. The “target” attribute has been deprecated.

    For anyone else interested: can either remove this segment from line 755: ” target=”_blank”‘.
    (dot included)

    or follow these directions if really want to force to new page using DOM:

    Hey, what’s the fade effect for images supposed to do? Grey them out?

    Some sort of AJAX driven fade effect would add an extra touch of awesomeness to this already great plugin. :)

    If you get the time it would be nice to code some smooth transition between the faded and full colored logos.

  • 90 .45 // Jan 11, 2008 at 5:57 pm

    The hack I recommended above for strict XHTML seems to have caused load problems with my host, so please disregard. These things are best left to people that know what they’re doing.

    Hello, could you add http://socialogs.com and http://socialposter.com buttons in Social Bookmarking plugin?

  • 96 Tip Diva // Feb 3, 2008 at 12:07 am

    The button for StumbleUpon does not work… if you look at one of my posts on Tip Diva and hit the Stumble button, you get an error page. Upon closer examination, the Stumble redirect says hhtp:// and not http://

    I’ve uploaded to the latest version to no avail. The Stumble button still does not work. How can I change this to work?

    Otherwise, great plugin. Thanks!

  • 97 rajs // Feb 3, 2008 at 12:48 pm

    Hi Tip Diva,

    I checked your website and now it seem to be working fine!

    :) Happy to see that!

  • 99 Ted // Feb 5, 2008 at 1:33 pm

    Raj,

    Great plugin. I am struggling with the same difficulty as Arnie and Steve – vertical icons. However, I don’t see BR tags, I’m on the latest version, and I even tried adding a style=”float: none;” to each img tag. No luck. Any thoughts on what’s going wrong?

    Thanks for the great plugin!

  • 100 rajs // Feb 5, 2008 at 8:00 pm

    Hi Ted,

    I have send you the tweak version of plugin.

    Please check it out.

    It should be fine.

    Don’t deactivate the plugin and simply delete the old file and replaced it with new one.

    Regards,

    Raj

  • 101 rajs // Feb 5, 2008 at 8:02 pm

    Actually I did nothing, simply change the img style to “float: none;display:inline;”

    Regards,

    Raj

    Raj,

    Thanks so much! YOU ROCK! I can’t believe how quickly you responded. It works perfectly now. I do most of my professional work on a computer, and purchase many applications that cost thousands of dollars, but have never received this kind of support.

    Thank you!
    Ted

    I’m having a problem with the plugin.

    I installed it just this morning and selected 6 or 7 bookmarks to show at the top of each post.

    The problem is that the images are just not showing.

    I tried to search the source code to find if the images were in an incorrect place but I can’t even find the part of the code which says where the images should be.

    Please help me.

    Many thanks :) :)

    Hi Rajs.

    I was confused by the click counts that were showing because I didn’t see them in WordPress reporting, but I see now it’s because the redirects are internal. Now I think, wow, I can’t believe all the clicks! They were save when I installed your most recent update too, thanks!

    Hi Rajender,

    Thanks for this plugin, I was using it until I moved away from wordpress and built my own CMS.

    I really liked the social bookmarking idea so have based my own module on your work for use on my site, and have also credited you on my home page :-)

    Thanks again!

  • 114 rajs // Mar 5, 2008 at 1:09 pm

    Thanks pdincubus!

    That was very nice of you.

    Gret Plugin – just what we needed. I have 1 question. We have a site that uses a mix static pages and posts, we have used the “exclude pages” option in your plugin which works very well, but we have 4 sub pages to our site that are not visible in the menu. We cannot exclude your plugin from the 4 sub pages because they don’t appear in the “exclude pages” list. An ideas how we can exclude your plugin from our 4 sub pages?
    Thanks very much

    /wp-content/plugins/obsocialbookmarker/include/ajax/\
    ‘+libraryName+\’

    This is on WP 2.3.3

    Hi,

    I’d like to know if you could add the jamespot button to your social bookmarks plugin. http://www.jamespot.com is a social network that allow user to share the best of the Web with the community.

  • 122 Eric Jacksch // Oct 25, 2008 at 12:25 am

    Just a heads up — we tried out obsocialbookmarker on our newsmagazine and it broke other things on our page. IE 7 reports an error on the page.

    I would like to remove the action of this plugin on a specific page template (custom_page.php) using functions.php. I haven’t been able to figure out how to do it.
