Creating BI Publisher report using Group Above, Group Left and Sum function

January 25th, 2008 by Rajender Singh · 4 Comments

Today I create my second report using group above and group left.

I also used sum function in this report.

First I loaded XML data as before.

My XML data structure is as follows:

biblog3img1

My intention is to design a summary report of total sale by year and month.

Run Table Wizard as follows:

biblog3img2

Follow the following steps in Wizard:

biblog3img3

biblog3img4

biblog3img5

biblog3img6

biblog3img7

biblog3img8

Once clicked the result will be as follows:

biblog3img9

Now I deleted whole Table inside the inside second column of second row of main table.

Now it should look like as follows:

biblog3img12

Now keep you cursor inside second column of second row of main table.

Now goto Choose Field menu as follows:

biblog3img13

Choose options as follows and click “Insert” button:

biblog3img14

Take care cursor should be at location 3.

Now you report format will look like as follows:

biblog3img17

Before previewing my report I changed the second column title to “Total Sales”.

So the final format will be as follows:

biblog3img18

Thats all, its done!

When look into preview it will look like as follows:

biblog3img16

Now I am looking forward to my next report using “Condition Formating”!

    Hi Imran,

First down load the BI Publisher Plugin for ms word.

When you will install it, the sample data (xml data) also will get installed with it.

    Regards,

    Hi Imran,

Actually its 100% report or data presentation.

Best thing about it is that separation of processing, presentation and tranformation layer.

you develop main dataset once, then it can be used in any number of format and can be transform to any file type i.e excel, pdf, xml and so on.

    Regards

    Rajender
